The term "Deacon" comes from the same word as "minister", which means to be a voluntary attendant to another.  Our purpose is to attend to specific needs and serve the body of Christ at Faith Community Church, freeing our Pastors and Elders to preach and teach the Word of God, as modeled in Acts 6:1-4.  The Deacons are a group of members at Faith who are nominated and affirmed by the church membership to serve.  The qualifications for service are detailed in 1 Timothy 3:8-12. A listing of their subcommittees can be found under Deacon Ministries.
