The term "Deacon" comes from the same word as "minister", which means to be a voluntary attendant to another. Our purpose is to attend to specific needs and serve the body of Christ at Faith Community Chruch (FCC), freeing our Pastors and Elders to preach and teach the Word of God, as modeled in Acts 6: 1-4. The Deacons are a group of members at FCC who are nominated and affirmed by the church membership to serve. The qualifications for service are detailed in 1 Timothy 3: 8-12. Service Areas: Deacons/Deaconesses Responsibilities
Deacons are servant leaders organized into the following ministries, and may contact the ministry leader to share in these service opportunities.

Welcome & Hospitality

Purpose: Facilitate hosting and welcoming people to corporate worship and other activities in a way that glorifies God and encourages fellowship.
Focus: Ushers, Greeting, Set-up/Tear-down, Information tables, Shuttle/Parking, Special needs

Facilities

Purpose: Oversee the stewardship of our facilities so they are used and maintained in a manner that glorfies God and serves the needs of the body.
Focus: Building and landscape maintenance, facility cleaning, administration of church calendar, work projects.

Mercy & Prayer

Purpose: Facilitating assistance to people during times of need, and maintaining the prayer chain and faciltating the call to prayer for those involved.
Focus: Disbursement of Deacon's Fund, community minitstries, meals and helps

Communications

Purpose: Providing communication to all who attend Faith Community Church.
Focus: Website, Photos, Bulletin Inserts, Publications, Newsletter.

Body Life

Purpose: Facilitating various church-wide activities either directly through the Deacons or as a support team for other ministries.
Focus: Coffee, Advent Fellowship, Memorial Day Picnic, Worship Praise & Prayer BBQ's, Launch Events

Church Treasurer

The Church Treasurer is appointed by the Elders and serves for one year. He carries the responsibility of the entire financial management of the church under the direction of the Elders. He overseas the financial committee which consists of a financial secretary, a staff financial manager and several other members at large. The treasurer is also responsible for all of the Human Resources and Insurance functions of the church.

How you can be involved: Please pray for our meetings, which are on the 1st Monday of each month. Pray that we would serve and lead with wisdom and humility. We welcome all who are willing to serve. Prayerfully consider if you would like to serve in one of these ministries. You do not have to be a Deacon in order to serve in any of the above ministries.
